OFFICE OF ADMISSION, CHAPMAN UNIVERSITY / ORANGE, CA
I was hired at Chapman University's Office of Admission as a Tour Guide during the summer before my sophomore year in 2014. My duties included giving campus tours to prospective students, families, groups, and VIP guests and helping with administrative work in the office.
In the spring of 2015, I was promoted to an Admission Fellow. In this new position, I interviewed high school students interested in applying to Chapman. After these interviews, I wrote comprehensive interview evaluations to supplement the student's application. I also wrote weekly blog posts for our admissions' blog and read college applications. The following spring, in 2016, I was promoted again to the Fellows and Admitted Student Programs Coordinator. In this role, I worked alongside the professional staff to hire, train, and schedule a fellows staff of 16 upperclassmen. At this point, my role at work was multi-faceted: scheduling, sending the daily updates, giving tours, reading and evaluating applications, conducting interviews, and more.
My favorite part about working with the Office of Admission was giving VIP tours to guests like Vanessa Williams, Rick Fox, and John Stamos. I also enjoyed working on the International Admissions team: connecting with students from around the world and helping with yield efforts.
SHOW YOUR SPIRIT / ORANGE, CA
During my second semester at Chapman, I was introduced to John and Sharon Deacon: a loving power couple who founded and own Show Your Spirit, an apparel company that specializes in customization and a personal touch. The company focuses on athletic uniforms, college swag, greek life apparel, etc. and has campus representatives around the nation to conduct sales in person. The Deacons hired me as a rep for Chapman in the fall of 2014, welcoming me into a loving work environment and family.
As part of my job till my graduation in 2017, I met with students (mainly those in greek chapters) to conduct sales and place personalized orders. I also served as the social media director for the company for a semester-- managing branding on all platforms, creating content, and organizing contests. The campus rep position itself requires a personable attitude, flexibility, and attention to detail: qualities that I pride myself on thanks to this experience.
UNIVERSITY TEES / ORANGE, CA
I worked as a virtual marketing intern for University Tees for a semester my senior year. The job itself was a lot of fun and included the best perk possible: free clothes! My primary duty was content creation for the company's social media platforms. My marketing director, Carly Buzzoki, would send over monthly boxes with apparel and I had a three week turnaround to send in photos of the same with caption or campaign ideas.
I also created flyers for UTees to put up around Chapman University's campus and organized contests, promotions, and giveaways to create brand awareness.
SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN
SOCIALITY SQUARED / NEW YORK CITY, NY
As a social media intern for this rad virtual company during the summer of 2016, I worked directly with founder and C.E.O. Helen Todd. Together, and with the help of other departments, we handled clients such as Leica, FitBit, Wild Tomorrow Fund, Muuna, and Burning Man. My responsibilities included market research, brainstorming campaign ideas, transcribing seminars, writing blog posts, and more.
I was also required to attend company meetings via Skype every week to collaborate with different departments that were stationed all over the world. Working with Sociality Squared taught me the importance of staying on top of assignments, communicating, and following up.
PUBLIC RELATIONS INTERN
WILD TOMORROW FUND / NEW YORK CITY, NY
I spent the summer of 2016 interning in New York City with a small non-profit called Wild Tomorrow Fund. Working closely with co-founders John Steward and Wendy Hapgood, I created a press list, helped put on a fundraising event at Darling NYC, and wrote press releases and copy for social media. I worked most with John out of his apartment in Hell's Kitchen, where we collaborated with Helen Todd of Sociality Squared and hung out with his three cats. Working for Wild Tomorrow Fund made me realize that while I love public relations and marketing, my end goal is to use those skills to help a greater cause-- whether that be focused on animals, women's right, the LGBTQ+ community, or the environment.
BRAND MANAGEMENT trainee
LEFTSIDE DESIGN ADVERTISING / DUBAI, UAE
During the summer of 2015, I completed a virtual brand management training program with LeftSide Design, an advertising agency based in Dubai. As part of the program, I created a hypothetical company and had to build not only the company's branding, but also its values, strategy, and product ideas. Assignments included market research, choosing a brand name and color palette, creating an online presence, managing hypothetical sales, creative advertising, and building a press kit. While the program was challenging, it gave me a glimpse of the different parts of an agency and how they work together (under strict deadlines) to create cohesive branding.
BRAND MANAGEMENT INTERN
BHANE. / NEW DELHI, INDIA
bhane. is a contemporary fashion and lifestyle brand based in New Delhi. As part of my two month internship with the company in the summer of 2015, I worked with the brand manager in writing press releases, bolstering the pre-existing company culture, and streamlining internal communication.
I also helped organize and put on the company's second annual #TBT party-- an event that not only showcased bhane.'s new store and welcomed several guests, but also featured 90's tunes and the best salted caramel ice-cream I've ever had.
SOCIAL MEDIA DIRECTOR
THE ODYSSEY ONLINE / ORANGE, CA
From July 2014 to January 2015, I worked as a staff writer and the social media director for Chapman University's division of The Odyssey Online. I collaborated with our local Editor-in-Chief and the company's national executives for content creation and branding on all relevant platforms. I also wrote anywhere from one to four articles a week about greek life, my campus experience, and pop culture. While many of my articles are not available any longer, you can take a look at my profile here!
STICKERHOOD / ORANGE, CA
As a campus representative for Stickerhood- a sorority sticker company- I conducted sales and promoted the brand on Chapman University's campus in the fall of 2014. While a majority of the sales were online via a rep-specific promo code, the position challenged me since it was a new company and a unique product to sell. I had to think of creative ways to market $5 stickers to sorority women as a must-have and convince chapter executive boards to place bulk orders. While the internship was short-lived, it was one of the first experiences that made me realize the power of persuasion and communication.
ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT INTERN
MULLENLOWE LINTAS GROUP / NEW DELHI, INDIA
My first internship, back in the summer of 2014, was with MullenLowe Lintas Group- an Indian marketing communications agency that is part of the MullenLowe Group and wholly owned by IPG. As part of the internship, I worked in an eight person account management team that handled clients such as Micromax and Dabur Honey.
While my primary duties included conducting market research, communicating with creative teams, and putting together competition analyses, the experience was my first look into a large advertising agency and how it worked. I got to sit in on client meetings, talk to account executives and creative directors, and brainstorm ideas: all things that confirmed my passion for marketing.
